Christine's Gallery Joins Youth Arts 40th Anniversary Celebration

Christine Buckley of Christine’s Gallery in Lincolnville has joined Youth Arts as a sponsor of our 10by10 Art Sale. The sale is part of the organization’s 40th Anniversary Celebration at High Mountain Hall, Camden on November 3, 2012. Local artists have graciously agreed to submit pieces of art that are 10”by10”.

Christine will frame the pieces in a natural wood frame, so they are ready to hang.  Each piece will be sold for $200.  $100 goes to Youth Arts and $100 goes to the artist.  It is a great way to celebrate the artists in our community and support art education to the next generation.  You can visit Christine’s Gallery at 90 Hope Road in Lincolnville or online at christinesgallery.com.

The Alphabet Project

Come and visit the Center for Maine Contemporary Art! Students at Camden Rockport Middle School have been engaged in a year long Alphabet Project.  As part of an ongoing effort to improve the vocabulary of our students, Principal Maria Libby, and Literacy coach Michelle Gabrielsen have been working to introduce grade academic vocabulary throughout the year. Working with local artist Ingrid Ellison, students in all four grades learned various methods of printmaking, such as gelatin prints, linoleum prints, collographs and monotypes with collage. Using these techniques, they chose to spell out words inspired by the creativity shown in every student at the middle school.

Youth Arts Auction Thank You!

Youth Arts would like to thank everyone involved in making our Benefit Auction and Celebration of the Arts a smashing success! Held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the beautiful High Mountain Hall in Camden, nearly 100 guests were treated to delicious food catered by Maine Coast Catering and were offered a plethora of both silent and live auction items.

Our tireless team of volunteers worked for months to plan and prepare for this event. We thank them for their dedication and the endless amount of time and work that was needed. We also say thank you to our numerous item donors, who donated thousands of dollars of amazing items and experiences for our guests to bid upon. We say thank you to Bruce Gamage, our auctioneer, and to Warner Graphics for printing our programs. And finally we say thank you to the following sponsors: Child Safety Solutions, Adventure Advertising, New Leaf Construction, Norton & Masters, Camden National Bank, On the Water in Maine, and Planet Toys.

Everyone’s donations to this event will help to enrich the lives of our children through art through the year 2012. Thanks again for making this such a terrific event!
